The VOG project is a fun, educational, hands-on activity to create a DIY vertical hanging oyster garden using recycled, bio-cleaned oyster shells from local restaurants that would otherwise end up in landfills. The shells are hole punched, strung onto wire and then suspended from docks, providing a surface for juvenile oysters and other sea life to attach and grow.
Space is limited to the first 30 registrants. A $30 per participant donation to Calusa Waterkeeper is requested to cover the cost of materials. Each participant will get to take their VOG home to hang from their dock. Additional gardens may be purchased at the event for $30 each while supplies last.
