Fort Myers, FL – September 17, 2024 – The Estero Bay Basin located within Calusa Waterkeeper’s 1000 sq. mile jurisdiction, is the topic of Calusa Waterkeeper’s State of Our Water quarterly meeting held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9:30 to noon at Fort Myers Regional Library. A popular area for paddlers and boaters, Estero Bay spans 359.6 square miles and is the state’s first aquatic preserve and Outstanding Florida Waters, which means it should receive the state’s highest protections under law. Keynote speaker Bonita Water Steward Nicole Weigold will tell us “What’s in the Bay” including current water conditions, its impact on the ecosystem and public health, and the fascinating projects that are underway to protect and restore the area.
